Module 1: Computer Networks
I. Data Communication
II. Types of Network
III. Network Topologies
IV. Network Protocols
A computer Network is an interconnected set of autonomous
computers.
the computers thatare connected to the network are called host or
nodes. Each host is connected to the network by means of an interfacing device called packet switcher on interface message processor (IMP). The IMPs are connected to each other by transmission lines or communication channels, which are often called subnet or transport system. The IMPs are generally microprocessors that execute fixed programs. In networks where the host are themselves microcomputers, the IMP’s tasks are often performed by the host processor, but they are still functionally separate from the host’s other activities.
Objectives:
At the end of this module you should be able to:
1. Differentiate one network type from another type.
2. Discuss the different type network protocols.
